::If you want a classic New York City scam 'Bait and Switch', use these people. On a Monday afternoon I gave them a call to scrap my car for cash. Market prices are $200 and up. But the owner gives me a lowball figure of $170. I tell him I'd like $225 since it's got some new parts and has a curb weight of 3100 pounds (1999 Hyundai Sonata). He agrees and schedules a pick up 9:15 AM. I take off from work a half day just in case there are hiccups. When they didn't show at 9:45, I give them a call. or two. or three. I'm placed on hold for 15 minutes each time and once it seemed like the rep hung up on me. After asking for someone in charge, I got the owner back. He tells me the tow truck driver is lost and can't be there before 2PM. Get a GPS - this is New York City and it's 2015! At 2:30 I call back and the rep tells me that the owner contacted the tow truck driver to NOT pick up my car because I was asking for too much! Seriously? At least give me the courtesy of a call back and letting me know that you disagree with what we decided was a good price. At least give me the courtesy so that I don't have to lose a full days work for a no-show. If Google had a no star option, I'd select it for this no-show scam business. Poor service will lead to poor business. Do these people really buy gold?
