  South Garden is a nice place to cool off during hot summer days. There are plenty of trees to shade you from the sun, and since you are near Schuylkill River, the water will naturally keep the garden cooler than surrounding areas. Speaking of Schuylkill River, you can walk down to the pathway closer to the river via spiral staircase on the Southwest corner of the garden away from the Water Works building. Also, there is a second entrance to the pathway near the Water Works restaurant. There is a new addition to the garden. The Fairmount Park Conservancy installed a replica molded from the original statue of The Allegory of the Schuylkill River (Nymph and Bittern) and the Mercury atop a water fountain in the center of the garden.
