Good place to go to by yourself or with family. There is always something happening here. Kids love the water fountain and plenty of open ground to do a picnic! Also love that there are so many options for food!!!

Say New York classic more than a must visit a must hang out place pad to be there for more than an hour to sit down and do the crowds live music dog walkers would people just fun to hang out and watch people love to sit up the water fountain. There's also a dog run which is pretty packed and fun made lots of friends there so my dog really didn't like it because he came from a farm and he wasn't neutered so he wasn't into having other dogs sniffing on him had to keep him on the leash that's what happens with Old English Sheepdogs brought up in the wild and take him to the big city it was quite an adventure though.

What a lively fun place to spend an afternoon. There was a pianist playing a grand piano under the arch. Gymnasts were doing daring feats inside the empty fountain. So many families picnicking, flying kites and even dozing in the fresh air. Fantastic atmosphere!

Washington Square Park is a 9.75-acre (39,500 m2) public park in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, New York City. One of the best known of New York City's 1,900 public parks, it is a landmark as well as a meeting place and center for cultural activity. It is operated by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. The park is an open space, dominated by the Washington Square Arch at the northern gateway to the park, with a tradition of celebrating nonconformity. The park's fountain area has long been one of the city's popular spots for residents and tourists. Most of the buildings surrounding the park now belong to New York University, but many have at one time served as homes and studios for artists. Some of the buildings have been built by NYU while others have been converted from their former uses into academic and residential buildings.

Hands down the greatest hang out spot in the city. Surrounded by people he quirky East Village and trendy West Village, the Park brings in the best of both worlds. The art scene continues to be strong here and the park offers a venue for everyone in it to express freely their true self. It is one of the great destinations in all of New York City.
