This is probably the best Laos restaurant you can find in Seattle. My friends and I are usually here for lunch. We love their papaya salad, beefsteak wrap and fried fish. Make sure you have cash. They do not accept credit card or check.

I seriously love this place but sadly it's closing. I really wish that discovered sooner. I hope they reopen soon

"Some of the best Thai/Lao food in Seattle and reasonable prices..." Pros: Delicious, very tasty and flavorful Thai and Lao cuisine. Prices are very reasonable and fair portion sizes. Authentic taste and does not sacrifice the flavors to try and please an American palate. Highly recommended. Cons: Cash only (no debit/credit cards accepted), limited parking, may be difficult to locate, restaurant exterior may deter those who view the outdoor looks and equate it to below average food quality. Bottom line: A hidden gem in the Mt. Baker neighborhood, Viengthong has served authentic and tasty Thai and Lao dishes for more than 20 years. It has a loyal following for those who know about it, but for the unitiated, don't let the outdoor facade fool you - the food here is excellent. Definitely an amazing restaurant both for the food and price. You will leave very satisfied and will come back for more. Recommendations: Tom Yom Goong (sour soup with seafood, lemongrass, mushrooms, and flavor), BBQ Chicken, and Pad Thai.

The best and most authentic Laos food you'll find in the Seattle area. The menu and ingredients used are true to Laotian cuisine. I've been to this restaurant since they opened in the 80's. The current owners have been running it since 1992. Not much has changed since then. It's a hidden gem if you're looking for real Laos food. Order the food as is and don't substitute or add to the dishes if you really want to experience authentic Laos flavors. Otherwise, head to another typical Thai restaurant chain. One final note... they use real bah-dak. For all of you that don't know what bah-dak is, it's an important ingredient in Laos food that's usually replaced by fish sauce as to not offend some customers.
