::Management needs to be replaced. They need a Veteran or someone who cares about Veterans to lead this facility. All management cares about is retirement benefits and watering the plants. How sad. Veterans deserve so much more.

::My dad has been there for 2 weeks he suffers from Alzheimer's and the care he gets is amazing they tend to his every need. ' the only thing I would suggest is to be careful what you bring there sometimes things disappear. Other than that the girls there are amazing they answer everything we ask and from the looks of my dad he's comfortable there with other veterans he's 92 and a World War II veteran and I'm thankful for the care he gets.

::My father was a resident in the FairHaven memory care unit for 4 months until he passed there. The activities and attention to the residents show they are educated about patients with Alzheimers and other dementias. All the residents were always treated with respect whenever I was there. The aides there are very compassionate and kind. The communication to our family from all the staff was excellent. They have a great support structure. I feel my father received excellent care there and that we were very lucky he was a veteran. He had been in another facility the year before and I didn't think it was that bad until I saw the VA home. What a difference! All nursing homes face challenges but the facility was always clean, never smelled and there was always plenty of staff and volunteers whenever I visited.

::Both of my parents have been the recipients of the great care here. The staff is kind, patient and very good at what they do. My family is grateful for all they do.

::Great staff & lovely atmosphere. Clean, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. I felt confident that my father was in good hands during his temporary stay. I am a tough sell on Nursing Homes. Having worked in a nursing home myself some years back, I am always starting out from a perspective of suspicion. I was relieved to find all indications that this was a great place for my father, a dementia sufferer. Both his physical and emotional needs were given consideration, which means a lot to me. Further, it was a benefit to him that he was surrounded by fellow world war II Veterans, many of them Navy men like himself. I would not hesitate to recommend the NY State Veterans Home of Montrose.
