I loved it here. I was trained very well for not only the VTNE, but real life hospital work. There's even a course on job hunting! Everything I learned was super valuable. I got a job right away after graduation, and now I'm working at the University level!

I graduated from VTI in July, I was immediately hired by my externship site and last week I passed my VTNE on the first try. Overall my experience at VTI was great. It as fast-paced and challenging but I love being pushed to be the best I can be. My education was very good and I think back to things I learned there everyday while I am a technician in "the real world". I loved the onsite kennel and although it is tough to do blood draws on animals that do not technically need it...they are all adopted out to mostly students who in turn probably give them the best years of their lives. I myself adopted my baby girl Lilah from the school and I consider her to be rescued from her old life, even if it meant going through VTI.

The program itself is put together very nicely. You always have reoccurring teachers who get to know you. The information the school gives you is perfect for the VTNE and animals are right in the facility to practice with. BUT The actual building that VTI is in is absolutely disgusting! First off, This school full of animals is in a 6 story high rise in the middle of downtown Pittsburgh! The dogs have to be walked along the city streets where there may be broken glass and drivers not paying attention! Since the school rents out a building instead of owning it, the floors in the stair wells are littered with dust and garbage. The rooms are barely put together, and the elevator is 75 years old and breaks down all the time. The maintenance staff for the building is useless. They work in classrooms while the teachers are trying to teach students. Nothing more annoying then someone talking on top of a teacher about a light bulb. Traffic coming into the city is awful as well. Busses only run so often to downtown and students are always late causing them to lose attendance points. This is a poorly placed school and disgusting. Students should not be expected to clean the school and try to learn. If the location was more rural and the animals had places to run around outside, I would give this school 5 Star but the quality of the school is poor.

Decent schooling, nice teachers. Tend to mix up your classes and sometimes forget to double check their scheduled courses are correct when handing it to students . Do your lab work and know whats your surgery is going to be. Unless you want to be 'surprised' with a simple spayed turn puppy abortion.
