  This is the heart of the legislative branch, what more can be said. It is a beautiful building. The staff there to help visitors is very helpful and knowledgeable. If you do not have time for a full tour, or you get there late in the day after the last tour is full, you can ask for a photo opportunity, where they take you to the rotunda for a once around to take photos and see it, you see a film on the legislative branch as well. It really was amazing. If you are in DC you have to visit.

  Great place to spend time. The lush green foliage gives a natural flavour to the place. Originally a wooded wilderness, the U.S. Capitol Grounds now provide a park-like setting for the nation's Capitol Building, offering a picturesque counterpoint to the building's formal architecture. The grounds immediately surrounding the U.S. Capitol are bordered by a stone wall and cover an area of 58.8 acres. It's boundaries are Independence Avenue on the south, Constitution Avenue on the north, First Street NE/SE on the east, and First Street NW/SW on the west. Over 100 varieties of trees and bushes are planted around the U.S. Capitol, and thousands of flowers are used in seasonal displays. In contrast to the building's straight, neoclassical lines, most of the walkways in the grounds are curved. Benches along the paths offer pleasant spots for visitors to appreciate the building, its landscape and the surrounding areas, most notably the National Mall to the west.

  Great tours and tons of history. Really smooth considering security level. Bring as little as possible for a smoother time. No gift shop on ground. Catch a bus for an easy time. Hop on and off for easy access.

  Immaculate grounds and interior. Steeped in history and the people/staff were awesome! Very knowledgeable and full of facts. The museum at the visitors center was fantastic as well. Very well laid out and full of interesting artifacts and displays. Give yourself plenty of time to see it all!

  We really enjoyed our time at the Capitol grounds. We took a tour of the Capitol from our local Senator's office. I highly reccomend this over taking the general tour offered at the Capitol. They give your group a private tour and are able to give special insights. But with that said, your tour is only as good as your guide. Ask your guide of passes are available to go to the viewing area for Congress and Senate Chambers. Its not exciting but very cool to see in person.
