::We so enjoyed this more than a book store. There is a cozy niche when we (three generations) played Chinese checkers on a neat old game board. The live band “Footloose” was the best ever, lookingforward to many return visits.

::Very kitschy, cute place! More of a curiosity shop than a bookstore. Fantastic coffee, that's worth the visit on its own.

::Just came to visit San Diego for a couple of days and found this pleasent place in Seaport village. The wide variety of specialty coffees apart from regular flavors. They also havr a great collection of various crazy decorative pieces, books, pens, dolls coffee cups and great in house games. Great Ambience. Completely loved it. Aftr my 3 day tour in city, this became my favourite place in san Diego. Do visit with ur frnds or loved ones for a quality and memorable time over a great cup of coffee amongst vibrant and versatile collection of books and decorative items.

::I was really let down by the Upstart Crow, actually I was a little heartbroken. Being an avid reader I ADORE bookstores and love exploring them for hours on end. After searching through Yelp I saw the incredible reviews for this particular place and was so excited to visit! I'd just finished my last book and needed to purchase a new one so Upstart Crow looked like the perfect place to do this, I could even grab a coffee to enjoy while browsing! Utterly disappointing. Yes the Upstart Crow has some books, they have some beautiful notebooks including some incredible leather bound pieces, they have some young adult fiction, a few kids books, cook books and whatever scattered about but mostly this store contains gifts and trinkets. Gone was my expectation of grabbing a delicious coffee and perusing the aisles, searching for the perfect novel. Instead I found myself looking at novelty gifts and other such things. If you want a gift store or to grab some coffee and a bite- yes go to Upstart Crow. If you come here expecting to browse through books, don't waste your time.

::I wish I had known before driving an hour and coming from Los Angeles to visit my favorite “bookstore”. It’s no longer a bookstore, the employees weren’t very friendly at the cafe and it is no longer the cozy, relaxing, warm and inviting bookstore I had come to love. Very sad, they really need to rebrand now that it’s become a weird novelty coffee shop. You’ll probably spend a few minutes here now as opposed to really enjoying an afternoon.
