  The worst place. This was my first experience having to bury a loved one and I will never use Unity in Harlem again. Initially Gary appeared caring and sympathetic but was the opposite in the end. I saw him the first day to discuss the arrangements and the last day, no warm hand off at all. They did not have the wallet cards we ordered and used a different poem that was selected. In their defense, they refunded the price of the cards. The day of the wake, they overbooked and I had to be "caring and understanding" despite the time overflow because "we are moving people out as fast we can." Additionally, as another staff member put it "we normally end at 6pm so we are doing overtime to be here." The driver to and from the burial was on his cellphone on a personal call. He did not have the good sense to put up the partition. Additionally, he made a stop on the drive to the burial. It's still a question as to the reason for the stop. The day of the wake a Sinbad looking staff member was there and he could not take the time to.come.out of the office.to greet us and appeared bothered when I asked about the time of the other funeral ending because it was running into the time of my scheduled wake. He was brusque and appeared to use inappropriate humor, to.say the least. When I asked any question the answer was "I am unaware because Gary..." The last day when I saw Gary and shared my concerns his response was to tell me how he worked 6 days of week and additional and needed to stay home that day and rest. No apology or anything as if I'm in charge of scheduling. And last but certainly equally unprofessional, I spoke to a staff member about my concerns, who appeared at the wake to express his and was told "they are new and still being trained" regarding staff behavior. So with all this said,.thankfuuly the funeral was at my aunt's church and the services was awesome. The service by the staff at Unity was unprofessional and not empathic. I have them one star because they did refund the price.if the wallet cards. Go some place else, please. I really wish I could rember all the staff names but Gary was the only name I remembered.

  Ask for Mr. Barrow. Handled complicated arrangements for 2 family members who passed away within one day with dignity.

  Richie helped me with both my mother's and my brother's arrangements, and they looked beautiful. I recommend to ask for him at Unity Funeral Chapel, Inc.
