  This is one of the fine old train stations. Although too young to recall much, I was first there before the golden age of rail travel ended. It isn't nearly the hub it was in the early 60's, but despite modernization (and the mediocrity that is Amtrak) it retains a classical charm. Be prepared for a multitude of panhandlers -- more than I've encountered anywhere else on Earth.

  I am so incredibly impressed with the union station the variety of shopping and restaurants has something for everyone. The train schedule is easy to see. the payment kiosk is a little bit different than others you have to read it carefully before purchasing. The address system for departure time is a little hard to hear so pay attention.

  Very cool place with some good shops. Of you've forgotten something while travelling, if you're coming through Union Station, you can likely find a replacement here. Good food court on bottom floor and nice restaurants on main floor and mezzanine. Would HIGHLY recommend the Thunder Grill!

  The architecture is awesome there are shopping stores a food court several restaurants and did I mention trains. A little advise is to buy tickets online print out your ticket or download the app for amtrack for free. This will save you time in line. Also try to get there no more than 20mins before the train leaves as seats for waiting can be scarce.

  For the most part the trains are on time arriving and departing. The stations interior is beautiful and has many shops that help keep you busy while you wait for your train. It's also very easy to access from the metro which is awesome.
