::Dr. Burlew was wonderful with incredible bedside attentiveness. Very caring, thorough and knowledgeable. I have to rank my stay at a one star though. My room was definitely not conducive to healing. I was put in a room that was clearly meant for one person. When I was transferred to the Critical Care Annex for my recovery of a small bowel resection, it was obvious that it was meant for one person. I was put in the far end of the room across from the only restroom. There was a type of screen flex portable room divider that separated the two beds. The only chair in my area was a type of patient/guest slant armchair. No recliner so I could elevate my feet/legs. The tv, clock, and most of the medical equipment was on the other side of the room. The first night I had a roommate who kept the tv on all night. The next patient was Spanish speaking only and it was miserable. Every time they came into the room to assist her, they needed an interpreter. They put the calls on speaker phone every time. Once, when the nurse and lab person came in, I pleaded with them to please be quieter. They would turn on the lights, which meant the lights came on in my portion of the room too. The nurse's response was we need an interpreter. As a nurse, I KNOW that it didn’t have to be on speaker phone. Her solution was an eye mask and ear plugs. At one point I needed to use the restroom, which was at the foot of my bed. I did it by myself and didn’t bother anyone. Remember, I had a bowel resection. As I backed up to my bed to sit back down, with NO assistance, I was told to QUIT MOVING AROUND because I was making the other patient “uncomfortable”. I was so upset. The night charge nurse and nurse (found out it was my bedside nurse who TOLD me to quit moving around) came to speak to me. They knew I was upset because they could hear me telling my son on the phone what happened. I told them I felt so disrespected. They agreed that I had done nothing wrong. They got behind on my pain medications because all the attention was going to the other patient. At this point, I was begging them to please not get behind on my pain medications. I was crying. The roommate also had the only access to the tv which she also keep on all night. She then started calling people at 6:30 am using the speaker phone! It was miserable. Also, the head of my bed was up against a door to an adjacent patient's room. She had her tv or computer very loud listening to cat videos! Unbelievable. I felt like I was put in subpar conditions. I couldn’t believe I was in a Critical Care Annex. What concerns me the most is that I know I have to go back. I have stage IV colon/rectal cancer. My next surgery is scheduled for January 5th. I am more than concerned and truly worried. If I could go somewhere else, I most definitely would. My surgeons are beyond amazing, but they put you in an area that is not favorable to healing. I felt very isolated and uncared for.

::Cardiology department front desk staff, techs, and the doctors are all helpful, professional, and knowledgable. I am receiving excellent care. Signage inside and outside makes it easy to find your destination. There is free parking that is an easy two-minute walk to the entrance. No complaints here!

::I am so impressed with the oncology health care my wife has received. Very knowledgeable and professional. My hats off to all you essential medical personnel. Now if the hospital would address its parking issues this place would be great. Not enough parking and the valet parking can be a nightmare. This isn't because of the valets themselves, but the way the lanes are set up is ridiculous. Shouldn't be waiting 30 minutes in your car to get it parked. Of course all the people that have no respect for others that find ways to cut in line, well you will get yours someday.

::Went in for an outpatient procedure. While my doctor and the check in nurses were fantastic, the getting out was less than desirable. When I woke up a very nice nurse was there to greet me. After finally using the restroom, it was time to leave. My prescription was not ready until 1. Minding you that I woke up at 11:00 a.m, and surgery was at 7:45 a.m. Then after getting into to discharge lounge the coordinator's attitude was short and kinda rude. I kept frequently taking sips of water to make sure my mouth was wet. She firmly demanded that my mask remain up at all times, and I was waiting in the waiting area for over half an hour and my mouth constantly kept getting dry. My wife had been waiting out in the parking lot for the time I was in there. I was ready to go in everyway possible. No communication. I feel that in the end I wasn't treated like I should have been. IL paid out of pocket and paid before getting the procedure completed. I want to thank my Doctor and the staff that checked me in. I would like a Supervisor and/or Director to contact me. I feel that the money I paid UCHealth for this procedure was not worth the way I was treated trying to get out of the facility.

::Getting surgery here was impeccable and as a Registered Nurse, I was highly impressed. From checking in, getting prepped (with iodine and chlorhexidine and I was happy to do so to protect myself and others), getting to the OR, to getting wheeled out for pickup was a great experience. Every person treated me with respect, comforted me, and answered all my questions. Everyone was so kind and efficient, and if there was a book to write how a surgery must go, this is it! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!
