Love this place - authentic delicious German eats and amazing selection of brews. Huge space inside with a great patio. Great spot for large groups and even remote working.

At the bar, you have a section of high carbon sheet steel, that rusts as condensate water sits atop it, and the rust, and corresponding bacterial action, interferes with the beer flavor, so it just make for a nastiness about it. The Schlafly Bottleworks in Mapleswood has the same problem at their main tasting room bar top. Rust smell at these two places as you are here for an olfactory (fragrance, smell) and flavor (taste) sensation, and the wet rusty bar with bacterial action making the smell worse interferes with it. Go sit at a table. Ooop, they are all filled up in this Midwestern consumerist circus. Or go to Steampunk Brew Works in Town and Country (Lamp and Lantern Village) or Six Mile Bridge in Maryland Heights. Beer is better and cheaper and better, more civilized, genteel, hosts and patrons. Also, Steampunk Brew Works has a beautiful copper bar top.

I have been going to this place for the better part of 3 years. It has outstanding beer and their food is good also. I have taken pains to write a letter to the president about their service especially when it is very crowded. But they do not have nearly enough servers when it is crowded and have no organization (whoever catches the server attention gets serviced) in serving the customer. I understand the nature of craft brew and how you want to experience the flavors and aromas and such, but if your a regular you just want to be served quickly. And they can't do that. So if it is crowded be prepared to wait and wait and wait. I won't go there anymore when it crowded. You can't have 4 bartenders serving a 100 foot bar when there is 300 people clamoring for a beer.

UCBC’s second location is significantly more accessible. Located in The Grove neighborhood it is a huge brewery and bierhall designed to feel like a German bierhall. Here the food and drinks are ordered at separate bars and there is general seating both inside and out. The food window is low and very accessible, staff will help you to your table with your plate. The bar is a little higher, but the staff are helpful and friendly. Tables are large, wooden common tables with benches but staff has always been helpful about pulling the bench down so I can fit at the table. The food leans toward traditional German. Don’t pass up the pommes frites or one of the sausage boards, delicious! My beer expert says they have very good beer and I can attest to the deliciousness of their cider. While you are here, take a self guided tour of the brewery, completely accessible. Bathrooms are spacious with grab bars and a small parking lot with one accessible spot is attached the brewery. Street parking is abundant on side roads around the brewery which have less traffic and are safer for unloading and loading. There are two levels and staff will assist with in door lift which has been fucntional on every visit.
