::Whether you have been a Christian for many years or don't know what to believe about Jesus, Tremont is a place that will welcome you where you are at. It is a safe place for seekers and will deepen even the aged believer's faith. I would highly recommend it to any in the Boston area.

::A lot of History here. Beautiful architecture. Hopefully some $$ can be raised to fix the front masonry. Wish I was there at 11 for a visit inside.

::This place is truly a masterpiece of ornamentation. There's marvelous stained glass, an aisle of deep red carpet, and worn pews that bring to mind a medieval sanctuary. The pipe organ is what makes it truly grandiose. I attended the Saturday morning service at 11. It was by no means bad, but it wasn't as powerful as I had expected from a Baptist church. The main problem is that there weren't many people, which made it quieter and duller than I'd have liked. They are only so much responsible for this and it was a rainy day. What they are responsible for is the way they conduct the service, and it was basically decent. The (junior) preacher, who was younger, delivered a heartfelt prayer. It had an evangelical attitude to it. The older preacher / reverend wasn't so animated. He did make a few snide remarks about Europe and liberals, which I found unnecessary and unwelcome in a place like Boston. His sermon wasn't particularly captivating and was more of a history lesson. The best part of the service was the invitation for members of the church leadership to prayer for members of the audience who came up. There was an evangelical passion to it without the pressure of convert-on-the-spot. The music was alright. The two singers had nice voices, and the pipe organ sounded beautiful. Unfortunately they accompanied it with a piano, which punctuated the slow, deliberate, airy gasps of the organ with screechy pokes. The congregation is diverse, so you've got a mix of Black and White people. Traditionally when you think of Baptist churches you think either of spirited Black ministries or angry White ones. This place is not extreme in either direction and welcomes people from different backgrounds. It's worth trying a service here.

::The people are incredibly loving and make you feel that you are part of a family. They are always eager to see you come back and find ways to get you involved in the ministry. It's so wonderful to worship with such a diverse congregation from different nations and different walks of life.
