::One of the larger branches among the local neighborhood libraries. Has a pretty large fiction selection along their vast wall, and a reading area. This library never gets too crowded, and is therefore pretty calm. A good branch to visit if you're looking for a quiet place to read or work.

::This branch is pretty quiet. It has a large collection of books that you can pick up off the shelves and don't necessarily need to preorder a book. It also has a large collection of children books and DVDs. Residing only on one floor, this branch has one reading room and a set of computers. They always keeps the books your ordered online for 10 days in advance, and it's easy to find the books reserved for you. You can also bring your laptop here if you want to do your homework in a quiet atmosphere.

::The Tompkins Square NYPL branch is my local library and I love it! Although I pass by the Ottendorfer branch on 2nd Avenue every day, I elect to come to this branch because there's more of a neighborhood feel. There are three floors, the librarians are very friendly and helpful, and of course there's space to do work on your laptop. On Mondays and Wednesdays, they are open until 7.
