  I've been a State Farm customer for 10+yrs across multiple agents and blindly transferred my policies to Tom's office when I moved to Astoria. I bought a new car and this team was able to get a policy setup and started for me on the same day. Since then everything has been a mess. Despite local 'Agents' serving as the main benefit of the State Farm business model there are real problems internal to this agency. At other State Farm agencies the Agent will sometimes pick up the phone themselves. I was never able to actually speak with Tom Shannon despite asking. There seemed to be no coordination between members of the staff and the information I received (or worst, didn't receive) varied every time I called in. If you do business with them, make sure it is in writing because twice they made changes (including one paid-in-full policy cancellation) that I did not request after I called in. Worst of all, this agency team was resigned to losing me as a customer when all of their competitors offered quotes with significantly lower rates with far better coverage. I had selected to start an Auto policy with State Farm out of loyalty but they had no interest in fighting the system to offer me a more competitive rate. Again, what is the purpose of having an 'Agent' based business model if the Agent won't fight for you as a customer. I encourage you to look for an agent elsewhere.
