  Wonderful place of art. Each piece of Art is awesome and Master piece in itself. I spent almost 2 hours in this artistic building with treasure of paintings, so beautiful & inspiring that no art lover should miss. And DON’T miss the opportunity to be there if u r in San Diego, the Golden City I was there on 12th April 2018🤗 And No Tickets, thanks Timkens

  A small, but lovely collection of classic American and European art. The galleries are airy and nicely lit, setting off the collection very well. Admission is free. An under-visited gem, well worth the time to view.

  This free museum has a lovely collection of art. I particularly like the Russian Ikon collection and the smaller collection of Dutch paintings. The recent reorganization of the ikons is really wonderful.

  It's a cute little museum hidden in the shadows of the San Diego Museum of Art, in the heart of Balboa Park. It's FREE ADMISSION, because the directors are avid art collectors who just want to share their art with the world. The place survives on donations, gift shop items, and selling guides. Naturally, you have to check your bags and water bottles in at the front desk, and everything goes safely in their coat room. The art isn't even set back behind ropes or anything, so you can get a close-up view of the pieces. The guards are nice old men who just want you to enjoy the art, but will definitely tell you off if toy try anything funny. They're always open to answer questions too! The place is very kid friendly, it's quiet, but not oppressively so. Worth a visit if you're in the area already, and have nothing to do.

  All you really need to know is that you'll see a beautiful collection of centuries-old art and it's FREE! So if you happen to be in Balboa Park, or if you've already been to the larger more popular museums and looking for something new, give this one a try! The docents were very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the history of the art pieces with our group , and helped us gain appreciation for it on a whole different level. When you enter you'll love their seasonal displays .in our case, we were able to enjoy the Christmas display of handmade ornaments. Beautiful!
