  Mr. Clinton approached me, unsolicited, about pursuing a case against the city of Washington, DC after I had fallen in the rain at night -- into a gaping hole in the sidewalk near a construction site downtown. The incident left me with a torn a ligament in my foot and broken a bone in my ankle. Mr. Clinton later repeatedly tried to enrich himself and his brother, a doctor who had merely glanced at my x-rays, at my expense (I don't recall if his brother actually had the relevant expertise or not, but I later realized he had involved his brother specifically so he could receive a portion of the settlement). To reiterate, Mr. Clinton attempted to take the vast majority of the settlement he negotiated for himself and a sibling. He also attempted to use the fact that we had never signed a written contract to his advantage. This effort was a a violation of the verbal agreement / gentlemen's handshake we had on the front end -- and particularly insidious as I was between jobs / job hunting when we received a settlement from the city AND Mr. Clinton was recommended by college classmates and friends. Following a successful settlement with the city of Washington, DC, major repairs were made to the street I was injured on, which was good news. To give you a sense of the legitimacy of the case, near where I fell, a 20-something woman biking home from work had run over a hole in the ground, fallen and broken her collar bone just months before I was injured. That helped bolster my case. The representation I received was unsatisfactory. This was, again, particularly disappointing as Mr. Clinton was recommended by college classmates / old friends.
