  As far as bar food goes, I'm impressed. The small dishes include Peking Duck Tater Tots which are a must have, along with some actually crispy Crispy Chicken sliders. The drinks are solid, and with this amount of space, it doesn't feel too crowded on a weeknight. The ambience isn't romantic - this is more a place for coworkers and friends to hang out and get a late night bite.

  I know this is an old-school kind of place, but aside from the decor, there's nothing old-school about it. The reason people like the old New York Style cafe's, pubs and diners is because they come with relaible service, standard fare that feels like a hug to consume, in an environment that reminds you of the great city you're in. This is not that place. The food is overpriced for what you get, and while the fish tacos were good, they didn't blow my mind. The service was snarky (at best) - I entered a near empty restaurant at 1 in the afternoon on a wednesday and the host asked if I had a reservation. I said I did not and he said "let me see what I can do." My guest and I were seated, in an awkward table aside a long bench between two other tables, even though there were plenty of free standing tables in the restaurant. The tables on either side of us never filled up and we left the place at about the same level of "busy" as it was when we came in. I have been here twice - it is a convenient stop for a colleague and I, but not a favorite.

  I really like this place. It's a little pricey but the vibe is very cool and comfortable and the food and drinks are very good. I can see this becoming a go-to spot

  One of the best burgers I've had in a long time! Fast service fun atmosphere and attentive staff. Coming back for sure.

  I was surprised by the Wooly located in the historic Woolworth Building in Lower Manhattan. I had passed it while walking in the neighborhood for the last six months since it opened and hadn't noticed it due to a dark, intimidating sidewalk bridge structure darkening the Wooly's elegant front windows. Once inside the restaurant space is warm, inviting and filled with the pleasant notes of Nina Simone, Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder and many Motown artists. The menu choices stick to bar food although the Private Burger I ordered was delicious and quenched the desire with a quality beef patty and a tasty seeded bun. Right now Happy Hour runs almost all day with many specials and $7 house wine. Wooly Public is a wonderful, easy place to hang out with friends or a laptop.
