  It’s hard to be too picky about a place like this. It’s everything it appears to be. A hole in the wall, mom and pop pizza joint that serves a variety of other classic Italian dishes. The pizza is greasy, the toppings are generous and you can get a calzone the size of your head for $9. For $30 we had an appetizer, drinks, a pizza and a calzone and took most of it home because the portion sizes were so generous. No, you aren’t going to get the same service that a 5 star restaurant can offer but the staff were inviting, engaging and friendly and that’s all you can ask for. If you go in looking for a greasy slice of pizza and leave it at that you won’t be disappointed. We’d visit again.

  Had the Muffaletta there. It was very tasty and filling. The place was a bit of a hole in the wall but the sandwich was great. It also took a while to get our meal so if you are in a rush wait until you have time to spare.

  The Original Italian Pie is a great place to eat when you are in New Orleans. The food is great, the portions are generous, to say the least, and the people running the place are friendly. If all of this was not enough the prices are very reasonable in an area with high prices. Do yourself a favor and stop by and grab a bite. I had the lasagna and caesar salad which came with a very generous serving of garlic bread that was perfect for dipping in the sauce in my lasagna.

  Great pizza. Great price. Food came out quickly. Kinda lacks atmosphere (local radio station on) but for under $8 I got an individual pizza with 3 toppings (FRESH mushrooms/tomato) and a huge salad! Can't wait to go back!
