::We have stayed here 3 times now and we are heading down for Easter weekend to visit some family. Love staying here so we can get out on the town in the evenings. The rooms are always clean and we've always had a nice view of the city. Our Favorite restaurant is Departure as well which is at the top of The Nines hotel and offers fantastic new Asian cuisine in modern atmosphere..and a nightclub to boot. Fantastic place to stay.

::What a beautiful, awesome hotel! We didn't have any issues. Our room was clean, the staff was friendly, and we enjoyed the location in downtown Portland. I would love to stay here again though now we live in the area so I can just visit :D But if you are an out of town guest looking for a modern hotel that is very comfortable, this is your best bet.

::DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. The problem started from the beginning. My wife and I were going to Departure to enjoy what was already anticipated to be some expensive drinks. I expressed to CHASE (and yes, I’m calling him by name), their bell boy that my favorite team was coming into town, that I know people stand out front to try and get autographs, and that I was curious to figure out the best time to stand out so I can make it to the game in time for tip off. CHASE, instead of just saying “sir, we cannot divulge the routines of people staying at our hotel” instead says (very rudely), I can’t tell you that DON’T ask anyone else. The tone in his voice clearly implied that I should leave. Well, that would rub anyone the wrong way however his demeanor and response to my question basically told me, “you have a do-rag on underneath your hat...I don’t take you seriously...and you could leave for all I care.” Okay...fast forward to my final encounter with CHASE. I tried to pull him to the side to express my frustration with him. He did not walk over to the side and talk to me, saying, “I don’t need to walk over there, I’m good where I am.” I tried to explain that I spent money on already over priced drinks and I didn’t appreciate how he responded to my question. He did not care...at all. WHAT MAKES THIS EVEN WORSE is that I sent a FB message to the hotel to express my anger over how he handled this and no one...NO ONE... had the decency to respond. For this, I would recommend no one waste their hard earned money. They have no respect for you if they think you don’t “look” like money...and I hope their management addresses this sooner rather than later. 5 DAYS AND NO RESPONSE...UNACCEPTABLE.

::I love this hotel! It is right in the heart of Portland and always meets our expectations. We often go to catch a Whitecaps game and the team stays there as well so it is fun to bump into the players in the elevators and hotel. The Urban Farmer is a great place for breakfast and Departures is fun for drinks at night. Room are very nicely done with beautiful marble bathrooms. I love the Tiffany blue and chocolate color scheme. Try to get a corner room if possible for great views and the Club floor is definitely worth it if you are travelling with someone else.

::There is much to appreciate about the design elements of this establishment. The crazy thing though, is the feeling that serious holes exist in the upper class atmosphere. Construction elements seemingly have been overlooked, and even the catering is done in a way that feels hurried. The improvements that this place needs span miles. It's definitely a step ahead of most in the aim, but the landing falls short. Food shouldn't dry up in an hour. Heat lamps don't work well for keeping food moist and finding food on silverware that's supposed to be clean is a quick comfort killer. The servers were awesome, but the tools they are provided sets them up for failure. The other issues I could go on about, but you get the point. I figure at some point a manager with open eyes will look to solve these things and I'll write a different review once my experience is better. Great staff, lots of extra work to catch up on! Thanks!
