::“It’s everything you want fried chicken to be.” —Guy Fieri The Country Cat was highlighted on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, so I had to stop by. It lived up to the hype. The fried chicken sandwich was fantastic. Everything, even the ketchup, is made from scratch. Although I didn’t partake, if you’re a Bloody Mary fan, it looked like you should try one. We watched as they were being made and they looked tasty. If you’re a home chef, pick up a copy of Heartlandia: Heritage Recipes from Portland’s The Country Cat. Great cookbook with recipes from the restaurant. I’ve enjoyed several recipes.

::Overpriced, hipster atmosphere with fantastic service at the bar and high quality food. We had an enjoyable time but it isn't my style so I am unlikely to return, it's too crowded for my liking. The apple cider is up there with some of the best I've ever had though. Pictures are of the country fried steak and the fried chicken meal. #Brunch #Pdx

::These people think their menu is way better than it really is. Their Benedict is ruined by serving it on a biscuit, they're very proud of their biscuits. I thought maybe the biscuit would be better with gravy. That might have been true if their gravy had any flavor. I've had better gravy from a packet. They advertise it as bacon and sausage gravy, but I counted a total of 6 tiny pieces of meat, no where near enough to carry any flavor over. They seem to like to include words on their menu that don't translate to the plate. Clabber cream is not whip cream. I guess it's how they justify charging 13+ dollars a plate. Save your time and money. Walk a block and go to the observatory.

::Well hell.. I honestly wasn't expecting tons of flavor in the egg scramble plate that I ordered. There was an apple (?) flavor that kept me curious, as did the tenderness of the shallots. I truly thought the shallots were macaroni, as soft as they were. The potato bread was spot on, too! I ate my meal slowly, with the assumption that it wouldn't make me so full. Well, that really didn't work out so well. Satisfying and filling. Just how a meal should be. :)

::Delicious food, good service. Fried chicken, stew, and pot pie was awesome. Onion rings weren't really rings, just a bunch of fried onion bits. They were good but not what I was expecting or hoping for. Gets a little loud inside so that can impact conversation.
