::We heard that the owners of the Croton Grille, a place that we lie a lot, had reopened the Bird and Bottle Inn and couldn't wait to visit. The Inn itself dates back over 250 years and is as quaint and charming as you'd expect. Walking through the doors their is a linger aroma of a fireplace. The small bar is very welcoming, low beamed ceiling and revolutionary era decor, just as you'd expect. Matt, our host, is a gretat conversationalist and very pleasant. Now lets talk food. We were here for Happy Hour and started with Mussels in a different White Wine sauce that was very tasty. This was followed by crispy and tender Fried Calamari with an excellent Marinara sauce. We followed that with Steamed Clams in that same wonderful sauce, the kind that you never get tired of. The Mussels and Clams were both on the large side, a really good portion of both. A very good Pinot Grigio, and just as good Sauvignon Blanc, were perfect with our choices. Matt told us that they are going to utilize the exceptional grounds for Al Fresco during the warm months ahead. The dinner menu looks very good and we are definitely coming back for it. PS This is an Inn and there are rooms available.

::New management and great menu. The bar is great with an old school feel. Service was superb as was my room. Felt as if I stepped back in time. Highly recommend this place for family or date night away from Kids.

::I had New Year's EVE dinner there. The food was great, generous, and the service was prompt and attentive. I love the place, the ambiance, and history of the place. It's one of the oldest inns and pubs in the United States!

::What a wonderful getaway weekend! The hospitality and service felt more like thoughtful attention and friendship! The appetizers and dinner were delicious by the fire in the tavern, and a simply amazing breakfast prepared by Mercy. Bring your appetite. Nancy prepared a candelight fire for us, and hot teas, drinks, and treats to our suite. We had come up from the city, as several generations of my family once lived nearby, but the Bird and Bottle Inn is like coming home for all. Very chilly out, Mercy gave us a ride into Coldspring Saturday, and to the train Sunday! Wonderful. We hope to visit again soon.
