  Food was delicious and it's been about 5 years since I have ate at TGI Fridays. The one by my house was converted to something else and the one in north phoenix is too far for me to go to. On my San Antonio vacation I saw it and needed to go back. I would have gave it 5 stars but there was 30 minute wait and it wasn't packed with customers at all. It was also about 10pm on a Saturday when we went.... I had Jacks Sampler Platter and was a treat for me.

  How to begin. It had been many moons since I had been to a TGI and let me tell you it should have been many more. When I first walked into the restaurant there was the sour smell of raw sewage that hit my nose that should have been the first warning signs but instead I proceeded to ignore my instincts, I was hungry. They had us wait to be seated though to no surprise there was hardly a soul there. Once we finally were seated it seemed as if our waiter had been in a bar fight and had not bathed in days. We ordered our meals and to no surprise waited, and waited, and waited until finally the microwaved appetizers arrived. Delicious. After more waiting I finally got.my New York strip which was a weird color of gray and smelled of fish. After a few bites I decided to not pay for my food and sent the steak back. I am now home writing this story, sitting on my toilet, going through an experience I can only explain as a "Event Horizon."

  If I could give it a zero, I would. I tried to order an appetizer combo that was shown in the menu for my entree and the waiter said it was for to-go orders only. So I got on my phone and ordered it to go so I could pick it up and eat it at the table with my family. When I walked over to the bar to pick it up 20 minutes later they tell me they were out of "some" of the appetizer items in the combo, and would I like to replace it with anything? My phone number was on the order. If they didn't have some of my order, they should have called me as soon as they realized it so any replacements could be cooked and ready for when I got there. I asked for a refund and left as soon as we could pay for the other food. Crappy customer service and only a handful of actual entree menu items. The only thing worth getting are their appetizers, and this place couldn't even get that right. The only saving grace was that I didn't make a special trip for that order.

  The service was slightly sub-par. Like many restaurants the order is given to the server and the food is brought it by another staff member. In general this is a great way to maximize coverage, the downside is that you have individuals serving food that they did not take the order for. The both orders were brought to the table incomplete, however they did eventually complete the order. The food was decent, however over priced for the quality. We each had a 6oz sirloin steak, each at a different cooked level. Steaks were slightly over condimented and were on the tough side. The steaks were clearly of two different sizes, we were assured this was an illusion (I don't believe we were shorted, I was just surprised by the disparity). The cooking level of the steaks were very well executed. Our server did offer a comp for our order mix up.

  What we had was excellent. I had Jack Daniels Sliders for the first time. Fantastic. The meat was juicy, Cola onions were good but I left the Tabasco sauce off and just had the JD sauce which I could drink. Friend had Sizzling Cheese Chicken and it was delicious. I only get Jack Daniels meats when I come here. Disappointed that they don't have the cheesy mashed potatoes anymore. Server was excellent. The main reason we don't go here hardly ever anymore are the prices. Can't believe how much they have gone up over the last few years. It will be awhile before we go back unless someone else pays...
