::The healthcare is good. HOWEVER - like all UCSF - appointment making is in the dark ages. I tried to book an appt. for my daughter - asked for a female Dr. after 2:30 pm ANY DAY Jan/Feb. Was told - nothing available - and they didn't know when the March schedule would be available - literally no set date it comes out. I was told I could keep calling back in hopes it would become available. It's a teen clinic - teens are in school - why is is this so hard? Same issues with the phototherapy clinic too - if you miss their two week window you can book you are screwed. Appointment making is not designed with patients in mind at all at UCSF.

::I am not sure who the other reviewers ran into at this clinic but I want to give a different perspective on this place. I brought my child here and they treated him with the utmost respect, care, and concern that I have always associated with UC Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. The care was specialized and the doctors went out of their way to make certain he was comfortable and had all his questions answered as well as double checking with his other specialists to be certain that they offered the correct options for treatment. I am thoroughly impressed and would encourage any parent of a teen to be seen here with the expectation of being treated with dignity and expertise. While it is true that they do not answer their phone and have a daunting scheduling protocol that took longer than expected, it seems to be worth the effort.

::I agree with the other reviews that this place makes you feel like a criminal. They grill you, try to force you into their mold and they are unwilling to go out of their way for you at all. I went twice and the first time, it took weeks to get a response about the tests ordered. And the second time, with a second kid, the doctor flat out refused to do a tetanus titre for my son saying, just get the vaccine! So clearly they are sold out to the vaccine industry trying to force extra doses of vaccines, when the research supports that 95% of people have immunity after one shot and it lasts over 30 years. I felt shunned and judged and as if they did not care even one bit about my son but rather just about following protocols.

::Today (Jan 22, 2016) I went into the teen clinic at Children's Hospital. The reason for my visit today was that I needed to get the medical baseline form from PG&E amended for my son. PG&E medical baseline supervisor asked me would I go in and ask the doctor Lela Rachrach would she clarify what she meant by heating. After waiting an hour. She sends out one of staff doctors to talk to me. The staff doctor ask me me do you know about the Pg&e Care program. I said what does that have to do with this form. I said can I speak to Dr. Lela. She goes back there and come outs again. She said that she will not sign the papers. Dr. Lela would never come out and take the time to talk to me about the situation. Dr. Lela told Tina that she will call the medical baseline and fax the papers. I ask Tina the receptionist does she have no number. No response. I ask does she have the fax number. No response. Then Tina tells me if you Need help with your finances we help programs that will help you. This is response that African American people get when you go to that office. They treated me like I was trying to scam them and I don't appreciate being stereotyped. Don't even waste your time with that teen clinic. It's not worth it at the end of day. Spend your money with doctors and staff who care about all races and doesn't stereotype you and mistreat you.
