  THIS REVIEW IS SPECIFIC TO SARAH ROSE MCCLEARY, WHO BOOTH RENTS AT THE SALON, AND IS NOT A REFLECTION ON THE OWNER OR THE OTHER STYLISTS. I feel it is my responsibility to warn others about my experience with Sarah, by recapping how my hair went from healthy to breaking off above the root after 4 visits. Initially, I had a consultation with Sarah, with the goal of transitioning my hair from highlighted to platinum blonde. During the consultation, Sarah assured me my hair was healthy, that we could take it platinum without risk to my hair because of her technique and the product she uses. The initial transition to platinum occurred without any problems, and I was assured after the 6 hour appointment that my hair was still healthy. The problems started to appear when I went back in for my first root touch up. Upon arriving home, I noticed the entire root was orange (see first photo). I reached out to Sarah, and she was able to remove the orange band and correct it to platinum. The problem occurred again on my second root touch up, with my roots being a yellow color. This time Sarah pushed back and said "I don't know if I can make you happy", but eventually relented and corrected the roots to platinum. She explained that the root discoloration is normal, it is not possible to avoid it, and challenged me to find someone that could do it. However she said with this new understanding of my hair, that it wouldn't be a problem the next time. The final straw was my third root touch up. This time Sarah said she was travel the following week, and also wouldn't have time for me to come back in the same or next day to fix any discoloration problem, if it occurred again. TO ENSURE I WOULDN'T NEED TO COME BACK IN, SHE DECIDED TO INCREASE THE STRENGTH OF THE DEVELOPER FROM 20 VOLUME TO 30 VOLUME, AND ALSO ADDED HEAT FOR 40 MINUTES. MY HAIR IS BABY FINE AND I'M NATURALLY A DARK BLONDE, WHICH I'VE NOW LEARNED IS A BIG NO NO AND THE REASON MY HAIR BROKE OFF. I left the touch up with platinum roots but noticed immediately that the crown of my hair was really thin but couldn't figure out why. After five days, I washed my hair, and it became very apparent what had happened. THERE WERE CHUNKS OF BROKEN OFF HAIR ALL OVER THE CROWN OF MY HEAD (SEE PHOTOS). THEY WERE PEEKING THROUGH MY WET HAIR AT ABOUT AN INCH LONG. I contacted Sarah, informed her that my hair was breaking off and provided a photo. I also asked her to cancel my future appointments. SHE DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE BREAKAGE, DIDN'T APOLOGIZE, AND DIDN'T OFFER TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY HAIR OR TRY TO HELP IT. SHE JUST CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENTS AND WISHED ME LUCK ON MY JOURNEY. REALLY? My hair continued to break off with brushing and styling on the crown of my head only, at about an inch. I needed to find an experienced stylist in San Diego to assess my hair and give me a shorter hair style. I managed to find someone with 25 years experience, that is also a platinum expert. After examining my hair and hearing a detailed account of what Sarah did to my hair, he advised me that the increase to 30 volume and heat is what broke off my hair. In his 25 years, he's only had to use 20 volume for 40-50 mins max to take someone with my level hair to platinum blonde. Instead of increasing the volume and heat, she should have let the 20 volume process longer. He also noted that she excessively overlapped the bleach, which also contributed to the breakage. The salon owner, Randi, was very lovely and accommodating. She apologized profusely on her behalf and informed me Sarah had refunded my last two services. To this day, I have not received acknowledgement or an apology from Sarah, which to me speaks volumes. This is what inspired and fueled me to write this review. Mistakes like this should be acknowledged and learned from, not swept under the rug.

  I went in to get a blow out and not only did I receive the worst wash house experience but I left with a damp, frizzy “blow out” don’t waste your time.

  I am visiting San Diego and needed a trim ... called in to the Style Lounge today and they were just BRILLIANT! I have only used one stylist in UK for years as I have had terrible experiences in the past but Andrea did exactly what I wanted quickly and efficiently and was lovely. I would highly recommend this salon and particularly Andrea - I did not feel I had to come home and restyle my hair afterwards - amazing and so happy with my visit... SO reasonable too. Thanks guys!
