::Don’t have any patience even on the phone

::I made a consult appointment with this office for this past Monday. At the end of the appointment I was told to sit down with the secretaries and they gave me the “good news” that my first two root canals were approved by my insurance company (I have to get a few done- my teeth are a mess because of years with bulimia). I asked the secretary multiple times, are you absolutely sure of this, that the procedure will be covered by my insurance, telling her that I could not afford to get this done right now if my insurance is not going to cover it. “Yes,” she said. “It was approved; you have very good insurance.” The secretary told me that yes insurance agreed to cover the procedure- it was approved by my insurance and that I would only have to pay $72 for the first two teeth to get the root canals. I asked if I had to do anything else. No, just show up. You are all paid up. I come to my appointment today, the procedure itself seems to go very well. I have no complaints about the endodontist himself. From what I seem to gather he did a good job. (Fingers crossed). But, to my horrible surprise, right after the appointment an hour later, the secretary calls me and tells me that my insurance has denied the root canal. For her to give me the False information upon me booking my root canal for today, that the root canal procedure had been approved by my insurance I was misled into getting a very expensive procedure done I would’ve never gotten there otherwise if I had known that it was up in the air whether insurance would cover it or not. If I had been given the truth instead of what they led me to believe, I would’ve done my own research to follow through. But because the secretary told me it was approved all I had to do was pay the $72 and show up everything was fine I got tricked by their system. Now she tells me I owe at least $460 and I have to pay them for the root canals I had done today. In addition, I paid $72 for an appointment I had scheduled with them for this upcoming week to get two more root canals done. Beyond infuriated, I firmly asked the secretary to return me the money for the upcoming appointment since I won’t go if my insurance won’t cover this upcoming one (like at least handle the future disaster before that happens too), and she tells me no, that I owe them money, and they refuse to return that payment. Furthermore, she further contradicts herself to say that the copay I had paid for today’s appointment was only for 1 tooth, not two. I clearly remember her saying $36 per tooth. $72 total. Now she is lying to me about this too. Because of this office’s ineptitude, I have to try to file claims to handle the mess and chaos as I’m thrown into debt until I can put together whatever claim and paperwork to hopefully someday get this mess handled. I fully intend to spread the word about how Weiss and Chassen’s office does business, and I will pursue all necessary legal actions and report everything to the department of health, anyone who has ears and power in this field.
