  This is an OK beach. Port Jefferson, just east of here, has done a much better job of promoting and developing their harbor and beach front area. The tide is very strong on the north side. If you in a kayak, be prepared to work very hard if you manage to find yourself paddling against the tide. I advise planning your kayak outing so that you are within one hour of high tide as you pass the north side of the beach.
