I was in DC recently for work a few weeks back, and recall stopping in for a moment. I was surprised at how efficient they were able to utilize that small plot of triangular land. It almost looked clustered inside, but the seating opened up nicely and you have an easy view of the space as you go upstairs for more seating. The staff was on-point as I observed a short rush of customers come in and haphazardly begin ordering. The baristas handled it well, and the cashier kindly corralled everyone into some semblance of a line. Speaking of which, that might be one set back of this steam-punk looking space, a place that is clearly marked for customers to stand in a proper queue to place their order could be better marked out. The day O was there, it was a bit of a crowd near the front to place an order.

I need to rave about this Starbucks for a moment. I work next door and so I come to this specific spot regularly. I have sort of a weird drink (Cold brew and steamed milk with a little vanilla). Somehow a lot of other Starbucks mess this up and make it taste...like butt. Not this Starbucks. Never this Starbucks. There is one Barista in particular who is FANTASTIC. When she is behind the espresso machine I am always extra excited. Somehow she makes my drink and it just tastes...magical. She does a better job than I can even do at home. She also remembers my name and the drink without being told. I want to get her name and let whoever is her manager know that she deserves a gigantic raise. Really every single employee at this Starbucks is pretty amazing. They work seamlessly together, even during the busiest of rushes. I've seen them working through a backlog of drinks after having their espresso machine die for a bit and they work at breakneck speed. This is the kind of atmosphere and service I expect from a mom and pop coffee shop, not a huge chain. So, if you are ever around Dupont Circle and are not sure which of the several Starbucks to go to, definitely go to this one! (Also, seriously someone give these people a raise!)

This Dupont Circle Starbucks is nicely-designed, situated in a great location. Seating is a little sparse, but the available seats are nice. Fast WiFi is available. Otherwise, this is a pretty standard Starbucks -- middling coffee, slightly overpriced pastries.

Man this place needs to post the prices of their drinks. I somehow paid $6 for a coffee cause I didn’t realize the coffees on the wall were $6 (no prices listed for “Starbucks Reserve”). Now admittedly I could have changed my order once they told me the subtotal, but I hadn’t had my coffee yet and I was sort of on autopilot. Here is the kicker. The coffee was burnt!!! I drink a lot of coffee, this was not good! Like I know a good dark roast - this basically tasted like burnt coffee, the tasting notes were barely detectable.

Make you you DO NOT come here to get some work done in the evening. They’re one of the very few Starbucks in the city open past 9:00pm, however they have some very rude policies in place. At 10:00pm, they close the upstairs (first photo) and force us all down stairs into the small dining area (second photo) and then thirty minutes later, at 10:30pm they closed that dining area and asked everyone to cram onto to the five seat “espresso bar” or leave... (third photo). These are some of the worst policies I can imagine, and definitely encourage me to never return to this awful location again. If you state you’re open until 11:00pm, then don’t be greedy bastards by slowly “discouraging” people from staying an hour before close, so you don’t have to pay your personal to stay after close and clean. It’s obvious, the green in the Starbucks logo clearly stands for greed.
