::It was complete agony staying at this hospital for just 5 days in 3 North. I was treated with such indignity, inompassion, unkindness and disrespect. I was locked in the seclusion room after having a severe panic attack. Previously, during the panic attack, Claire the therapist held onto my hands to prolong the attack( pure evil) instead of using a self soothing or distraction method, mind you; she is certified and is a social worker and occupational therapist. I'm sure, she did not use the correct protocol. Moreover 4 male staff added to my traumatization. 2 male staff by pulling me arm locked out of the art room during my panic attack which lasted about 30 minutes because of Claire the therapist. During this panic ridden state, 2 other big men came in to hold me down which frightened me( reminded me of a previous hospital stay at Montefiore in 2012) while I was to be given an injection in the seclusion room. I told them to not come near me. I asked the nurse Dana if I could take pills instead of the injection but she refused. If i had refused the injection then the 2 big men would have held me down so I gave in. This was indeed a traumatic experience in addition to the ones i experienced in the 41 years of my life. It is obvious that everyone is inept at their jobs and need training on how to treat someone during a panic attack or maybe the knew and just wanted the cause me misery the rest of my life. Moreover they need training on how to show empathy, sympathy, compassion, and kindness for those of us with mental illness. Their hatred for me were evident in their eyes. My 5 day stay was undeniably traumatic. Moreover, Dr. Cynthia Perry is the most inconsiderate of all psychiatrist i have ever met in my 20 years of being diagnosed with mental illness. Fortunately, I was able to write a 72 hour discharge notice. I was discharged the same day I wrote the letter. I am deeply grieved by the staff's mistreatment and as I stated before it was very traumatic and all because of a panic attack. How absurd to think about. We are treated like animals to be locked up and treated inhumanely for being mentally and emotionally sick. I will never return to this hospital again. I have a voice now and I will always voice my concerns and any mistreatment during hospital stays.
