  I'm a Texas resident who happened to attend mass at St Lawrence about a decade ago, and at the service a representative of the sister parish, a mission in Ghana, asked for donations. For approximately the last decade I've donated to St Lawrence and requested the funds be forwarded to this mission. In December I donated $2,500.00 with my usual instructions and my check was returned with the explanation being, "We are unable to forward your donation to Ghana. Please contact your local diocese Propagation of Faith with your request". There are too many competing, very worthy charities I can and will give to, and in the meantime the children in Ghana will not have the benefits of improved schooling, which is what my donation was devoted to last year, according to the thank you note I received from Ghana. I've no idea where the blame lies, but whoever is responsible for creating roadblocks to charitable donations....the exact opposite should be the goal... should be throughly ashamed, and removed from any position of authority.
