Speedway in Montgomery

  While traveling south from N.H. to N.C., my husband and I stopped off for gas and food at this Speedway. There are plenty of gas pumps here so we didn't have to wait in line for one to become available. Also, we didn't see any pumps with bags over the gas nozzles, indicating an 'out-of-order' status. Another favorable thing was that the trash cans weren't overflowing and there was no trash on the ground. All in all, very clean and presentable. Inside the store, we found a lot of merchandise for sale as well as quite a lot of 'fast food' choices. Unfortunately, though, the hot food on the grills/rollers and in the hot pizza display looked quite old and dry, as though nothing had been changed out since Lunchtime...and it was now around 2 p.m. The blonde lady working there ('Manager'??) was busy cleaning floors and counters. She told us the hot food was "buy one and get one free" but even that offer wasn't enough to make us want to eat any of that old food. After we looked at the hot food a second time and still couldn't find anything worth wasting our money on, this lady loudly and rudely told us to go to the Mainline Diner if we couldn't "find anything here". BEST ADVICE EVER!! Lol! This Speedway is fine if all you want is gas and a bag of chips. But if you're hungry, take a few extra minutes to get back into your vehicle and make a right onto that main road...go down about a half mile or so...and look for the Mainline Diner (and Pizza Co) on the left-hand side! GREAT FOOD AND PRICES, LOTS OF CHOICES, LARGE PORTIONS, and a staff that makes you feel very welcomed! Plus, lots of parking, front & back! (Yup, I did a review on the Mainline Diner and Pizza Co, too. :) )

  Average gas station. A lot of merchandise inside.

  Easy access from and to the highway. Gas prices seemed fair for the area. Indoor restrooms were small (single person) but clean. Large choice of fountain beverages including a do-it-yourself milkshake machine.
