::Spectacle Island is one of the least explored destinations for Boston residents. I've been a handful of times and each time has been wonderful to explore the easy-to-hike trails, pick wild berries, enjoy live jazz music on Sundays, grab some food at the snack bar, and relax on a sun-soaked beach. The ferry ride over is approximately 25 minutes and costs $17 for a roundtrip ticket. You can bring your own food and drink (no alcohol) and it's a strict carry-in, carry-out policy.

::Spectacle Island is an amazing look-out of Boston Harbor. The island is 150' tall, and lets you see the entire downtown skyline, the surrounding islands, and (often) many ships in the bay. You can get here from a ferry that leaves near the Aquarium stop on the Blue Line (ticket price ~$14). A very fun day trip.
