  Great to see at night. Better for photos during the day. Also better during holidays when transient population is in transit.

  I had my wedding at the Spanish Steps so it will always hold a special place in my heart. It is a beautiful out of the way location that most people overlook and never take the time to explore. It isn't easily accessible by metro which keeps the crowds down and if you plan to go by taxi tell them the cross street (22nd and S st NW) since many drivers don't know where it is. The Steps are a great spot for a picnic or a relaxing night with a book. While not good for people watching, the fountain provides some nice background noise and you have a wonderful view of Foggy Bottom from the top of the stairs. Whether you're seeking solitude to read a book, a relaxing spot for a romantic picnic or an out the way landmark to work on your photography skills the Spanish Steps are a great spot to go.

  The Spanish Steps is a slice of Europe in the middle of DC. They are several layers of stone steps connect Dupont Circle with Kalorama. There's a fountain half way up the steps and a brochure that speaks to its history at the very top. Once at the top, it's a beautiful view of Dupont Circle. Fun fact: The city does not maintain the Spanish Steps, the community does. The neighborhood pays for its upkeep and preservation. Thanks, Kalorama!
