The museum's collection is well curated and represents virtually all aspects of Southern Pacific's 100+ years of railroading in Southern Arizona. There are displays where youngsters--of all ages--can interact with the exhibits, including a real steam locomotive where visitors can climb into its cab and the volunteers (call ahead to find out times and dates) will explain and show what it takes to power-up and control this massive machine. Also, there is a small, but well stocked giftshop. Adding to the experience is the rumbling of trains only a few yards away on Southern Pacific's mainline. And finally, to top-off your visit, there is a fine restaurant in the same complex of railroad buildings with alfresco dining if desired. All-in-all this is a wonderful way to spend a few hours with your family or friends. Disclaimer: I don't receive any gratuities for my reviews, nor am I related to any of the staff.

There is a lot of Tucson history here. It is a great little museum. The kids loved being able to get into the engineer seat and ring the bell on the train.

A small train museum. It was fun to climb on the locomotive engine.

Fun and free! Donations are encouraged. Small but you could spend a lot of time reading and looking at things. The place has many friendly volunteers. If you're downtown, especially if you have kids, check it out!
