  I've never encountered a more incompetent group of people in my life. I went to get my last name changed after I got married. Their website says they don't accept certified copies, when that is the only thing that exists. I brought my marriage license with me and was told that it was not valid. I had to go back the next day with the certified copy, which apparently WAS acceptable. At this point, I've lost 3 hrs of wages. I went back this morning to try once more. This time, my number was skipped over while the "guard" that was there told me "they go out of sequence sometimes." Well, guess what, my number was skipped. I had to get a new ticket which put me back another 10 places in line. After 3hrs and a world of frustration, I was given a simple word document that had no letter head or any sort of validation that this was something from the Social Security office. All of this racket for someone to back out my maiden name and put in my new one. No wonder Social Security is the first program to get slashed. If I had to deal with these geniuses in the office, I would defund the program too.

  I went there to do a quick name change on my Social Security card and was surprised how fast the process went! Found the form online, with all the requirements. When you arrive, security guards are there to help you check in! After you receive a ticket, just wait for your number to be called. The ticket numbers are shown on the screen, which is helpful. The woman who took care of my card in the first booth was very nice! Such a pleasant visit!

  No appointment: So I waited for a bit, but considering the crush of humanity that existed within the room and continued to pour out of the elevator, I thought I would be there forever. Within half an hour (possibly less) I was directed to a window, and the man there completed everything with such good humor, intelligence, and speed, I left happily stunned. Seriously! Thank you!

  I went during my lunch hour. I waited a short 10 minutes until a very nice lady came to help me. I sat with her for less than 10 minutes. She reviewed my paperwork, completed everything, and I was on my way. Less than twenty minutes. Staff was extremely polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend this office. I could not have had an easier experience!
