I can't speak for the medical care of this hospital since I'm not a doctor, but there's several non-medical reasons why this hospital deserves one star. My family and I flew in from Seattle to visit my grandmother and they wouldn't allow my six-year-old son inside. I have another family member at UCSF, and my son was welcome in the patient room, so this appears to be more a policy than a guideline. My mother spent several nights at the hospital taking care of my grandmother, and the staff couldn't provide her anything more than a chair to sleep in. After days of sleeping on a chair, my mother was finally given a chair that converted into a bed. With 300+ beds and what appears to be 10 floors, why can't loved ones be taken care of by Seton? Whenever the doctor communicates with us, he uses his personal cell phone to call. I own a small business less than a year old and we don't even use our personal cell phones to contact customers - a hospital should do better, whether it's a business phone or an app in my opinion. I don't know if this is a result of ownership being transitioned to AHMC, but I am very disappointed in this hospital.

There is a chauvinistic male Physician’s assistant that was borderline abusive!!! Condescending and kept calling me “love” in a mocking tone. I went to the ER because I had pressures of 183/155!! A hypertensive crisis. I was denied any meds to lower it and when I told him that I was afraid because I was having “a hypertensive crisis” he demanded that I told him “where I learned that term from”!!! As if a black woman was unable to have an extensive vocabulary. He was an absolute tool! He told me that HIS PRESSURE WAS PROBABLY HIGH JUST BY ENGAGING WITH ME!! I would have commented that night but I’ve been locked out of my Google account! Happened weeks ago and I’m still livid!!

I'm happy with the experience from the ER today with my daughter as peds patient they're quick with everything in , started IV , blood & fluids . Seen by Dr Yu & nurse Kristen they're both kind & efficient. They give her a dose of antibiotics , updated with labs & given prescriptions/ instructions. We got in around 2 am & out by 5 am . I'm happy with how quick everything is . The only I wish is for them to put a sign at least where the entrance is despite it's being temporary due to construction. I think a lot of patients would appreciate it.

This hospital doesn’t care about patients, treating patients with impatience, rudeness, even though I was taken by ambulance to the ER. The registration lady and male nurses who answered my inquired talked to me with a tone, almost like yelling at me, like I owed them money and they wished me to die. I couldn’t image the attitude they used to treat an emergency room patient.

I was ambulanced here after having a seizure which the care was decent. However they drew labs that had to be sent in for results which took days, so I was discharged without an answer to what caused the seizure. This is the only ER in NorCal I’ve been to where they could not deliver results from blood work in the same visit, so that made it a hassle for my primary doctors as well. I called in today to get the results myself and was transferred 3 times, explaining each time the reason for my call. I asked the 3rd person, I believe his name was Will, if it was normal that I had to keep getting passed around because I had spoken with 2 others in the ER who were supposed to be looking up my record. His response was, “You called the ER which is extremely busy right now so what do you want?” I explained that I never received the results from my labs that were drawn when I was sent there. I gave him the information to look up my records, and he repeated back an incorrect patient name and date of when I was admitted. After another 3 minutes of trying to look up my records, he told me the results I was looking for. I then asked how I could get a copy of the records to forward to my medical team, to which he responded the medical records department. I asked what their business hours were and he replied with “normal business hours”. As someone who also works in health care, I understand how stressful the environment is, but I was appalled by rude and unnecessarily sassy treatment over the phone. They need to hire proper admin staff to handle these matters or not have their busy nurses tend to these issues.
