  After years of going to one of those eye chains where there are only Opticians (not Optometrists or Opthamologists) and getting a super-lame explanation for as to why I could no longer wear contacts ("you're just getting old" the optician told me) and see clearly the way I used to, Dr. Schenker is a breath of fresh air and I'm sorry that I hadn't started seeing him regularly years before. He's a real professional, very knowledgeable, personable, friendly and upbeat. The office staff is the same way and I have received some very impressive tests on my eyes, thorough explanations and personalized attention at Dr. S' practice. Also, Dr. S seems like a great guy to know outside of his profession.

  My husband went to Dr. Shenker because he had and has low vision due to diabetes. His eyes were examined and he was given a pair of glasses. Nothing more was done for him to help him with his low vision. Within 2 months, the lenses started popping out of the frames. He refused to go back to Dr. Shenker because he felt it would be a waste of time. Dr. Shenker never offered to show my husband special devices that would aid him in low vision reading. Recently, my husband saw another eye specialist recommended by the Catholic Guild. What a difference! She checked his vision loss and showed him devices specially made for the vision impaired. I too went to Dr. Shenker for eye glasses. I was not happy with my glasses from day one. Dr. Shenker said I just had to get use to them. Well, I didn’t. I paid a LOT of money for a pair of glasses that sit in a drawer.

  Great Dr. and a great guy! Friendly staff and always reliable. Easy to find office. Only challenge is parking occasionally, but worth it.
