My mom had a good start here about two years ago. The facility was still "Elant", and the staff were friendly and PRESENT. At that time I really came to believe my mother was in good hands and would be well attended to. Since then I've watched good staff suddenly leave. Seriously. It was as if a staff person was resigning every month! The remaining staff were stretched and unable to meet the needs of the demands of patients, making it a legal and ethical issue of negligence. Nights and weekends are a nightmare, as there have been only 1-2 people on a floor to cover the patients at night. God forbid if anyone has an emergency! A patient I know recently almost died due to lack of attention on a night shift where staff were lacking or non-responsive! All that said, I am seeking better facilities and will be transferring my mother out of there as soon as possible. Since Elant has changed ownership and is now " Sapphire", this organization has gone completely downhill. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. No way. No how.

Where do I start! The place smells horrible, the staff is the worst I have ever encountered, the rooms and bathrooms are filthy and this is where we put our trust for our family members...I would NOT recommend this facility to anyone..The staff whenever u can find someone is very rude and very non caring. My grandfather's table where he eats looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks then they have the nerve to place his urinal right beside his food, I went two days in a row to find that his urinal was never touched nor emptied...you can hear patients yelling for help and no one ever comes even when call button is pushed and lit up...I could go on forever but just know this place is the worst and they need better caring staff...even after several complaints nothing was done!!!we are in the works of transferring our loved one.

Do not judge a book by its cover! Although an old building, it is kept clean and the staff, including nurses, aides, Dr., social worker, etc are fantastic. They are always helpful and truly CARE about the progress my mother is making in rehab. I would recommend Sapphire in Newburg to anyone who cares about their loved one.

This place disgusts me. One of their CNA's on staff whom I've never met in my life took it upon herself to post pictures of my 3 year old daughter and my 8 year old son on her facebook page and trash them. Her name is Elizabeth Pickett. I would never trust my loved ones to be cared for by such disgusting individuals. I notified the nursing director of her employees behavior and they made a joke out of it to which Mrs. Pickett again posted the situation with my children to facebook. Trash. This place smells horrible, they neglect their residents. Avoid this at all costs. They do not care for the well being of others AT ALL.

Although the staff is as helpful as they are able to be, they are stretched to beyond their limits. They have to use a cooler for ice on the units, and a plastic water dispenser, then each resident unfortunate is given a styrofoam cup of water each day; seems very wasteful and UNearthfriendly to me. The unfortunate decor, very badly in need of updating, Is bland, faded and not comforting or inspiring. The birds are a nice touch however! And the doctor is a sweetheart. Don't check in on a Friday though... you'll wait until Monday for someone to see to your medical needs; but thats every nursing home. Short staffed is the rule, not the exception. ..but that too, is the story of long term care. Sigh....
