  The downtown Portland location of this Safeway is super convenient for me, and the store itself is one of the cleanest downtown grocery stores I've been in. They have a bottle return room. They can n accept Safeway E-gift cards which are on One's so smartphone, unlike typical Safeway locations. The staff here is friendly, if you're respectful, though understandably so, they're on high-alert for shoplifters. I'd avoid the bakey items here, because I'm unsure they have one on site. The store layout is tight as it isn't the biggest Safeway out there, just you're still likely to find everything you would at any other location! There's a Starbucks inside as per the seemingly usual pattern partnership between the two businesses.

  Kind of small. They are always blocking off exits and doors, very confusing. But the location is very convenient. There are many social services nearby, so sometimes you will see downtrodden folks.

  Five stars for being open on Christmas Day and saving us from a disastrous Christmas dinner resulting from leaving behind the key ingredients for the main course at the store we shopped at the day before! Grateful they are here to serve the downtown core. Street parking only and lots of much-needed security personnel. I personally prefer to shop elsewhere than giant corporate grocery stores.

  Very clean and affordable. Wide varietal of all food. Good deli, seafood, dessert and bakery in house. Use your "Safeway Card" for excellent savings. Very knowledgeable checkout people, Butchers and Bakers, too. Great location, close to US680, US880, and CA101.
