  Two Mid City residents who proudly helped rebuild our city after Katrina wanted to make a difference even more, so they opened a breakfast/lunch/brunch restaurant that does everything right. Their food is off-the-charts outstanding. Their sauces aren't so rich they'll hurt you, but plenty of flavor to go around in every bite. I had the Eggs Couchon. My wife had grilled catfish. Both of them were served over their house-made biscuits (which are TO DIE for). And the portions are HUGE! The service is friendly and prompt. The folks look like they genuinely enjoy working here. Here's the kicker: it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg once you're done. We were out of there with our gigantic brunch entrees and bottomless coffee for under $40. It's no wonder The Rube Slipper has expanded to other locations: everything works.

  My first experience having corned beef 😍 this place was soooo amazing! The good was great, the mimosas were great and the service was perfect. Highly recommend!

  We sat at the bar because there was a long wait for a table. The bartender was super nice and did a really good job. The drinks and the food were delicious. I recommend the boozy coffee!

  So we were seated right away, our order was right and our food came out in a timely fashion. That is the end of the list of good things. The bad things, in no particular order... Waited 20 minutes for water we asked for. Coffee was horrible and never refilled. Food was sub-par. Food arrived BEFORE silverware. We had to ask three people for silverware. Waitress spilled our mimosa while delivering it and then walked away. The check was brought to the table roughly six minutes after the entrees. At least the mimosas are cheap. Maybe that's where the good reviews come from.

  Super trendy, highly stylized breakfast and brunch place. Closes at 2pm making it fairly inconvenient as a restaurant. But if you're in the mood to pay 12 bucks for an omelet [extra for fancy butter or syrup]. The food is good but not great, definitely better than average, more solid than distinctive. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. The bottleneck seems to be the kitchen. Food takes longer than you'd expect, especially for basic breakfast.
