::The old guy who works at this place made my sandwich without any gloves on or anything and when asked his expressions were “Don’t tell me how to do my job”

::Rooz is an awesome local coffee shop, the kind where neighbors hang out for hours. The owner is a great guy, works very hard and makes delicious coffee and sandwiches. Their sandwiches are top notch and affordable. Plenty of seating (and WiFi) so come and stay for a bit. If you’ve got little ones, FM Smith Park is right across the street. Easy car parking, bike parking and a quick jaunt to Lake Merritt. COVID hit this place hard so support a wonderful small business and treat yourself to good food, good coffee and good company.

::They’re never open. I tried again this Saturday - checked the hours on Google and on their website, just to be sure. They said they’d be open till 3pm. I got there at 12pm and there was already two people trying to get in, but it was closed! The one and only time they were open, the girl behind the counter was hanging with two of her friends and ignored me. I finally asked if I could order and she said they were closed, even though their hours said they would be open for another hour, which I said. She just said “we closed early”. My boyfriend has also tried many times to go, but every time, it was closed.

::Local cafe with a town feel. Location is nice. Friendly staff. Able to eat inside or outside. Sandwich was tasty. Pricey. Fresh. And messy. Make sure to grab a handful of napkins before you indulge.

::Rooz means day in farsi. The owner is a very cool man and his whole team especially the warm young man who greets you — is a gem in Oakland culture. Not to mention the drinks are dirt cheap and delicious. They know their craft having been in Oakland for over 30 years ( the owner) I recommend their sandwiches. Especially the pesto egg. Do yourself a favor and visit. They have great ambiance, service and food.
