::Riza did a spectacular job catering our wedding at Crow Creek Mine. Before we get to the main part of the review, let's make sure that we acknowledge the location's degree of difficulty for a wedding caterer. Crow Creek is roughly 45 minutes south of Anchorage, up a 3 mile dirt road, and it has neither running water nor cooking facilities; a caterer must do all their set up in areas open to the public and with wedding guests milling about as they await the ceremony. Even with all these challenges, Riza delivered a top-notch performance. Our guests were blown away by the food. Riza's menu is varied and influenced by what's freshly available. She works well with the local ingredients we have available in Alaska. For example, we wanted our pre-ceremony appetizers to showcase some Alaska tastes, and Riza cooked up an amazing reindeer sausage bite with mustard and pear and brie crostinis with fireweed honey. I dream about the meatloaf sliders that were featured as an appetizer. We are eating the leftover tri- tip and a fabulous orzo salad all of this week and we are still excited about it even after having it 3 times. Her staff was professional and did a great job with the food and drinks alike. Her prices were completely reasonable, especially in the face of the schlepp and agita of working at Crow Creek. Riza's advice and quick responses to our millions of email questions helped us be calm in planning the wedding and made sure we covered all the necessary bases even as we bounced back and forth on our menu choices. This may be one of the great understated facts about Riza; you're not just getting someone who shows up day-of to cook; you will have a true wedding professional who will help ensure your event is just right.
