::Classy comfort food. Felt like somewhere between a country club and Irish pub. Had the fried pickles. Slight complaint that they arrive all clumped together, so we had to cut them apart. Fresh breaded with yummy breading that tasted like fried fish batter. My roasted beet salad was one of the best salads I've ever eaten. It had apples, and I had the cheese held because I don't eat cheese, but I could imagine how it would have made it even more delicious for those who like cheese. We brought a slice of carrot cake home with us. It did not disappoint, even with a container of whipped cream and another of fresh carrot shreds to top it off. My husband enjoyed the reuben. My son, a burger.

::It's been awhile since I've had a meal at Rip's. Thought it would be a nice place to have lunch with a small group of friends. I started my meal off with a bowl of Maryland crab soup. Plenty of vegetables, good amount of crab, missing a little seasoning. My main entree was the liver and onions mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans and a dinner roll was added with the meal. Liver and onions were seasoned well, very tender. Great!! Mashed potatoes appeared to be instant , odd taste, gravy tasted out of a can. Green beans were good. Dinner roll looked pale, but had great taste. There are several comments about the cornbread. It is no longer complimentary, but now $1.50 per loaf. Still worth the expense!!

::We dined recently for a mid-day lunch for a large party after a family function. Our table was set-up upon arrival and we were seated right away! A few hiccups here and there, but nothing terrible. Having to ask for napkins & silverware, despite not already being on the table. When our appetizers arrived, we had to wait a few minutes for the items we requested, first world problems! For appetizers, we ordered the hummus and pita, calamari, fried pickles & fried mushrooms. All delicious!! For my entrée, I selected the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake sandwich. Super good! Really generous portion of crab meat and great flavor. Another entrée ordered was the Fish Sandwich, which was also great. Drink wise, we had to cycle through about 3 different order requests because the bar was not stocked with items to make the drinks from the menu we were requesting. We were finally able to make a selection based on what the bar had. All in all, not a bad dining experience!

::Loved the chicken salad. The crab soup is SO thick and delicious, almost had to cut it with a fork. The house chips are so good! Fries were just okay. Chopped steak and beer cheese was good.

::This was our first visit to Rips. I’ve heard good things about it so I called ahead and made a reservation so we would miss out on the opportunity to try it while we were nearby. We were coming from an event, so got there 30 minutes early and went inside- it didn’t look too busy. We were told we would still need to wait til closer to our reservation time. Fine, whatever. However 2 more parties walked in after us and were seated before us, so we got up from the waiting area and asked- apparently they had the same reservation time too…. We were then seated right after we asked. We waited about 5 minutes for a server to come, ordered drinks and appetizers (they were out of potato skins). We got Calamari and Nachos. The nachos were pretty good and flavorful, although I wish we could have chosen a different meat. The calamari wasn’t terrible, but also not the best- my partner said it was edible. Next came our meals- the fried fish plate and Maryland fried chicken. My partner said the fried fish was good, but he was expecting more (it said plate full and it was only 2 pieces). His fries were pretty good too. I got the fried chicken- the Mac n cheese was good but not great, green beans were good but clearly canned green beans, and the fried chicken was crispy but very dry and flavorless. I only had a few bites of the chicken and decided it wasn’t worth eating and there was no point in bringing home leftovers. The best part of all was definitely the complimentary corn bread with sweet butter. The light at our table was really dusty and grimy. I was hoping this would be my new favorite place, but I don’t think we’ll be returning.
