  I just visited QED INC and have to say I’m impressed. I’m a headlamp nut, but with how QED makes high end medical equipment, I wasn’t sure if they would let me in the door… Even so, I walked up to the front desk, sheepishly said something to the effect of “I really like headlamps, can you show me what you do?” The lady at the desk didn’t bat an eye, instead she picked up the phone, and called Ira Cooper, the owner, and he took me on the grand tour! I saw the products they make, what about them makes them cool. (Did you know that a surgeon’s headlamp has a 7-10ft cable hooking him to a big box? I didn’t!) The coolest part (for me) a little about how they make them! Ira also showed me their audio amp area where another very cool guy explained to me why vacuum tube amps are better than digital- something I never knew. QED was an awesome trip for me. If I can get a reason to go back there, I will- they do more than medical headlamps, after all. Display lighting… hmmmm
