::This review is for Homeward Trails. This has to be one of the worst rescues. It has upset my family to the point I will never look for another dog at a rescue. We went through the process of getting a treewalker coon hound. When we first applied it took multiple emails to get a response. When we did it was extremely rude. To give you a bit of background. Both my wife and I have had dogs in the past. They have since past away and we wanted a new puppy. We got a long haired dog about a year ago and my allergies went crazy. We had to find that puppy a new home after after 6 months of trying to get my allergies to calm down. My family really struggled with letting our puppy go but just had to find her a great new home since my allergies did not get better. Based that experience we knew a long haired dog was out of the question and we really wanted to be careful in getting a new dog. When we saw treewalker coon hound, which is very close to my last dog we contact them to start the process and meet the dog. The first email we received said she did not know how to handle my application since I had allergies in the past. We said we just want to meet the dogs and see what happened. We met the puppies twice in a closed environment. Both times we were in a garage with 6 puppies running around and all over myself. The second time we even had the Mom to the puppies. I had no reaction to dogs at all. I know when I am going to have allergies that they will hit fast and hard so I knew we were safe. After the second meeting we thought everything was going to be good, but the director emails us saying that we should not be allowed to have a dog since I had allergies and had to re-home my last dog. She also said that all allergies are different and my could come of after we got the puppy. She acted like she knew more about my allergies than I do, I have lived with them for 41 years I know what to expect. She even made a comment of what would happen to the dog if I got allergies again, sounding like we would do something to the puppy. Then ended with she could not risk the puppies future with our family. We found this rescue to be extremely rude and unprofessional.. I would run not walk from this rescue. We are now looking through a number of animal shelters in the area to find our family dog from a place not looking to hoard animals and make a buck off them. After this experience we will never look at another rescue for our family dog.

::The staff at PetMAC are super friendly & knowledgeable about both their products and animals. They've always gone out of their way to help me when I have any questions, work closely with the different rescue groups in the area, are willing to order in items not in stock (or if you need the items in bulk), and have a huge variety of high quality dog & cat foods available, as well as all sorts of toys and other pet accessories.

::This review is for Homeward Trails Animal Rescue of Arlington, VA: We adopted a dog from Homeward Trails after we were assured that the dog is good with cats and children. We fell in love with this dog, took him home and he right away chased our 12 yo cat and bit my daughter's hand. We were hoping at that time that this is just an adjustment period for him. We hired a pet trainer and worked with him closely but his behavior towards our cat and daughter got worse. He ended up biting my daughter in the face. We were left without a choice but to bring him back. When we contacted HT, we were told that the whole situation is "SILLY" and called us liars & irresponsible. I'm sure there are great rescue organizations out there but this one I would NOT recommend to anyone that has a child or other pets at home. After we brought the dog back to Homeward Trails, he was initially listed in their website as needing a home with no small children or cats. But now they don't mention that part anymore. I feel for the family that will eventually adopt him and then be heartbroken like us. Not to mention putting your children & pets at risk. And I feel for the poor dog that thought he got a forever home but have to return to the shelter because somebody dropped the ball. If you have adopted dogs from them and was happy with the results, good for you. Othwerwise, for other people that are planning to use their service, be very, very cautious...Everyone at Homeward Trails has been VERY rude and condescensing to us. They were very pleasant and helpful at the beginning but the minute we picked up the dog and was having problems, we can never get hold of anyone anymore. Customer service is not a top priorty in this company. Being an organization that uses volunteers does not excuse them from giving poor service specially since they are charging people money. They would never admit to any fault nor have they even asked if my daughter is OK. They promised to give us $300 back from the $375 that we paid for the dog but that never happened. So now we are out of $375 plus his vet bills to cover the cost for microchip, check up and meds for the ear infection that he had, flea and heartworms meds, etc. I would NEVER recommend Homeward Trails to anyone. We are very, very unhappy with this company and I hope that by writing this review another family can be spared from going through such a horrible experience like ours.
