::Awesome Cemetery. Great history. Glad to see and hear itโs being cleaned up. My wife and I help clean up old neglected cemeteries up here in Kansas City, as well. Luckily I was able to run into a neighbor of the cemetery, as it is locked up (she gave me the code). Not sure if itโs locked all the time or if thereโs a back way in, so keep that in mind.

::This historic place is full of amazing founders and beautiful scenery. The groundskeeper is dedicated and has many wonderful stories.

::Incredible historic cemetery where many of Houston's first black settlers & freed slaves rest. Like many (or most) historical sites in Houston, Olivewood has not allows been treated with the respect it deserves. It's a huge disappointment. I know a lot of volunteer efforts have been made to change that which is nice to see. I posted a photo from one of my visits.

::This was such a spiritual experience for me. I volunteered to clean with a few others. This is be a life long commitment. I owe this to my ancestors.

::Amazing old cemetery. One of the tombstones is dated came to America in 1776. Lots of work had been done to help restore it. When we visited one of the caretakers was present and he told us a great deal about the history of the cemetery. Mr. Cook was an amazing guide and an amazing person. I hope more people visit and more money can be raised for restoration of this important historical site.
