  New Market Hardware is a diamond in the rough. It is been here for over a hundred years and has survived many other hardware stores that have come and gone. Everybody is friendly and knowledgeable, it's a little hard to navigate the store if you've never been there before but everyone is willing to show you where you need to go. If they don't have what you needed they can get it for you within a day or two. Highly recommend.

  I cannot believe how terrible the customer service is here today. They have been polite in my previous visits but today is terrible. After being acknowledged, I was patiently waiting as the employee worked on the computer after helping a customer. A man walked up behind me and the employee greeted the man and proceeds to assist him. I politely addressed the employee and she became defensive saying how was she suppose to know that I needed assistance... Now if I were to be a rude customer and got an attitude, there would be more problems. I'm not sure I'll be back. Oh yeah the other employee was having a personal conversation with sister by the counter

  Mate, this is one place I will really miss in St. Louis. A great, old school hardware store. Only the size of a corner store, but it's amazing how many useful things are jammed in there! Friendly staff who are often up for having a yarn about nothing in particular. Shop cat! Bring your dog! Dog treats! Popcorn! Not Home Despot!

  These guys are the best! Very experienced, and helpful with problem-solving. Try them before Lowe's or Home Depot if you truly want the best advice and products. Their pricing is competitive too. Support the independent shops like this one. The local contractors love 'em, and are in there all the time.

  I live down the street from this store and use it frequently for my hardware needs. They can be a little short-staffed, but that is pretty typical of a small privately run store. (Heck, these days, it is typical of everywhere.) It is a classic hardware store, full of nooks and crannies, with just about anything you need to do any sort of chore around the home. There are power tools, paints, glues, appliances, hoses, and so on. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I've never been there and not found what I needed. The cat is pretty tolerant of being fawned over. If you are in the market for that specific thing-a-ma-bob you need to finish that do-it-yourself project, this store will have it.
