::Pat Hicks and his team at New Life Hardwoods are the best. We had a flood in our split-level home from the laundry room that quite literally spilled over into our den, kitchen and the bedroom/bathroom below. I was so fearful we could not match the gorgeous quarter-sawn oak from 1960 that was in the rest of the house. Pat Hicks was able to find reclaimed wood -- an exact match -- for our home, and his team installed and finished them beautifully. My husband and I are very pleased, and Pat and the folks at New Life were a pleasure to work with every step of the way. The match is seamless! I cannot recommend his company enough, and his showroom on Slocum in the Dallas Design District is a must-see.

::My wife and I bought a home, and two weeks later we decided to have reclaimed hardwood floors installed. Out of the few places we looked, we decided on New Life Hardwoods to do the job for us. According to their showroom and the pictures online, they seemed to offer the most. We went to the showroom and picked out our wood, and we were told that we could pick the color once they were installed. We were told an approximate price per square foot, that we agreed upon. Once they came to measure, the price went up by $1 a square foot. First red flag. After haggling to get the price back down to where we had originally agreed on, we ok'd the project. We understood that it was going to be an inconvenience to have these floors installed, and we knew it would take approximately one week as we were doing this in all the living areas. Second red flag came when my wife watched as they proceeded to rip the baseboards from our walls, and throw them across the floor, not taking any care that they were going to go back onto the walls. The rest of the process laying the floor down went smoothly until they needed to put the final coat on. We were not aware that there were different finishes that they could use; glossy, satin, and matte. We didn't really know what to choose, seeing as we only saw one sample at the showroom. We decided to go with that finish, not really knowing what we were going to end up with. It was then that we were informed that we would need to be out of the house for 24 hrs, for the finish we had selected. This would not have been a big deal if they would have told us this beforehand. But, according to them, I "freaked out" because I was not told. I guess I am expected to be an expert on wood floors. After "freaking out", they then tell us that we only need to be out for a few hours. So which is it? 24 hours or a few hours? Now, lets get back to the baseboards. They re-installed our baseboards...I knew I would have to touch them up because of the nail holes, and I knew I would have to re-caulk. But when you have to piece together the baseboards to put them back on, paint doesn't cover that up. Now, here's my issue. When we asked about the baseboards, they said, "oh, sorry about that". So, when I asked the guy who sold me the wood about the ruined baseboards, he said "there's clearly a lesson to be learned here about expectations", which was very rude and condescending. Clearly, there are expectations, and all I really wanted was a sincere apology about the damage that was done to my new home. Communication is not New Life Hardwood's strong point. If you are going to use them, make sure YOU are aware of the process, because they give you as little information as possible. Thanks for reading this long review, this is a rather large investment for your home, so you should know what you are getting into with this company. The actual floor looks good, but their customer service and communication is lacking any responsibility for the damage that THEY created.

::Very well laid out showroom showing beautiful examples of recycled wood in practical use. The older wood has beautiful features, very stable with the tight grains of old growth timber. Would recommend to anyone who is renovating or building.
