::It is very sad that the DMV is unable to think, or use their brain, but can only "follow" instructions. I wanted to upgrade o an enhanced license andI was told I either had to bring my social security card or a 1099 as proof of identification (even though a social security card states "May not be used for identification." my 1099 forms did to include my whole SS# only the last 4 digits. I took my entire tax return, which had my whole SS# on it. I was told that they would not accept my tax return, but were unable to explain why a 1099 was more important than a tax return. I also had my passport, a town tax bill, a credit card bill and my current license. I guess all those documents were not enough identification, and I was unable to get the enhanced license. Please tell me why an income tax return cannot be used for SS# identification? My son, who lives in cT had to renew and only had his passport, old license and a copy of a bill with his address on it, and those documents were accepted without problems. By the way, this was my second attempt and waited in line for several hours to only be rejected. By the way, I am a doctor and had to cancel patients in order to go to the DMV.

::I have been there a few times. Definitely check up with Google to see how busy it is when you go. I went early thinking no one would be there, nope everyone and their 3rd cousin's Grandma was there. Timing is essential. Don't let these other ignorant reviews sway you, we all know they were having a bad day before they went to the DMV and are just impatient.

::Sad I can't give 0 stars. I went there twice to renew my drivers license. First day I was there for 3 hours & they never called my number. Next day I spent 2 hours for them to check my papers & another 2 hours to make a payment. 4 hours total. Ridiculous waiting time. If you are planning to go take a day off or a sick day. I'm not exaggerating. I sat on the bench at 11:50 a.m. & left the place at 4:05 p.m. please do something to improve the service. I saw many people there frustrated.

::I have to say, overall good visit today. I had to renew license. Had encounters with 3 of their employees. Each one was friendly. I was also not there for a long time. About 40 minutes which is very respectful. I can see why they my not got the respect they deserve. If you had to deal with as many that walk in there and I'm sure most visitors have attitudes when they don't bring the required paper work you would have a slight attitude as well. So if your going to the DMV go online and look up what you need. Bring it and there will be no issues. Do your research before you go. Good job today DMV of Garden City. I really wish I had their names to give them a shout out. Thank you for a stress free visit. Also in their defense look at my photos the line waiting to come in. Imagine you seeing that every day knowing that most are not prepared. DO RESERCH BEFORE YOU GO.
