Not only was the experience horrible and I eventually walked out but now they are trying to rip me off and double charge my insurance company while also trying to get me to pay more than I had originally owed. The worst part is that the doctor said I walked out because I am a xenophobe. Little did she realize that it was because they had an unsanitary office with unprofessional staff. This is absolutely disgusting behavior by a "professional."

I visited Metropolitan Dental Associates to get a deep clean and have some cavities filled. The staff was vary polite and comforting. The office was nice and clean. They did a great job!!! The dentist was gentle and made me feel welcomed. I would recommend Metropolitan Dental Associates to anyone with dental needs.

I've never written a review before --- but am doing so here bc this dentist was so terrible. I went in for a routine cleaning (and chose these guys bc they were close to my office) -- and walked out with a recommended $1000+ in procedures. They used LOTS of scare tactics that I really didn't like -- "you have the teeth of a 45 year old" (I'm in my 30s); "if you don't get this procedure, your teeth will shorten and you will have terrible wrinkles"; "if you don't do this now, you're going to need a root canal." I left pretty upset - but thankfully got a second opinion at the Washington Center for Dentistry (love them!!! Had been before - and will always go back now!). Basically, the Metropolitan Dental Associates were using scare tactics so I'd get (expensive) procedures I don't need. My teeth are fine and they were extremely unhelpful. Do not recommend!

I would give them negative stars and a giant red flashing banner saying "DO NOT GO HERE" if I could. I picked this location because the location was very convenient for me. What a terrible mistake. This turned into my biggest nightmare of a dentist visit EVER. Not only was the receptionist rude to me repeatedly (agree with all the other reviews about her), but I ended up leaving absolutely infuriated after everything was over. The entire procedure (just a normal check up, cleaning, and x-ray) was an awful experience. This was the ONLY tooth cleaning I've ever had that made me cry because it hurt so much. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, a tooth cleaning here made me cry from pain. I knew I needed a root canal on one of my teeth and my wisdom teeth out, but the dentist respected NONE of my wishes. In talking about how he'd go about my needed procedures, he did not want to give me a porcelain crown on a very visible tooth, told me he would not sedate me to remove all four of my wisdom teeth that have not yet protruded through the gums because he only does that for "mentally handicapped" patients, and that my root canal would take three different procedures. I've had two root canals done before and they've all been completed in one procedure. I won't even get into the details about how offensive he was comparing my wishes to a handicapped patient. Once the dentist could see I was clearly upset and no longer even wanted him to touch my mouth (I seriously almost just got up out of the chair and left I was so disgusted), he left the room. His receptionist came into the room to try to explain to me why I should let him do the procedures for me because he's a "perfectionist." Personally, I don't care if he's a perfectionist. He was a jerk. A straight up jerk. And I don't know about you, but I'm not going to let a jerk that gives off rude vibes work on anything permanent on my body, nor will someone so undeserving be receiving my money. I'd just like to add that none of this uneasiness was because of the hygienist. She was wonderful in every way. Her services were 5-star, but the business as a whole gets none. Do yourself a favor and do NOT go to this dentist. Take your money elsewhere so you don't have a horror story to tell like I do now. _____________________________________________________ UPDATE: 8/7/2012 Since I will NEVER be returning to this dentist again, I called them to have my x-rays sent to another dentist I'll be seeing. They told me it will cost $90 to do so. I called my new dentist to see if that was normal because it seemed extremely fishy...they told me it was absolutely unheard of. I paid in full for the x-rays, so they are my personal property. I should never have to pay someone to get my own personal property. When I talked to the dentist about this after two other people (including the absolutely rude receptionist) couldn't help me with the issue after fighting with them about it for a good half an hour, he finally agreed to email them to me. However, I must note that this was ONLY after I called him out on being a jerk to me and relating my needs to a handicapped patient and letting him know I would be contacting local dental boards to file a complaint. He told me he never said that about my needs and that *I* should be nicer to him when I talk to him. Once again, just adds to the mounting list of reasons NOT to go here. If I didn't have better things to do, I'd stand outside of his office with protesting signs to tell other people not to give them their business.
